InboxDollars Review: Get Paid to Answer Surveys and Do Other Tasks – Legit or Scam?

It’s no secret that I love answering surveys… or to be more accurate, I love answering surveys, and earning from them! I think answering surveys fit perfectly with the frugal mom lifestyle. Since I’m always caught between chores or errands, free time is extremely valuable. Answering surveys is perfectly doable whenever I’m waiting on my kids or lining up at the grocery.

For this article, I’ll be reviewing InboxDollars. I’ve been answering surveys (and doing other money-earning tasks) on the site, and I have a pretty good grasp on the pros and cons of the site.

There are quite a few InboxDollars reviews out there, but my own InboxDollars review will be written from the perspective of a full-time mom. That means my InboxDollars review will talk about how these earning methods fit in with our specific needs and concerns.

Without further ado, here’s my InboxDollars review!

What is InboxDollars?

InboxDollars is a rewards site. You do various online tasks – the most common would be answering surveys – and you earn points for each one your complete. You can then redeem these points as rewards (like cash or gift cards) later on.

InboxDollars has been around for about 18 years. That’s a pretty long time – in internet terms, 18 years is practically forever. Knowing that the site has been around for that long is definitely a good sign.

With so many shady (or outright scammy) rewards sites out there, it’s good to know that InboxDollars has been around for quite some time. See, most scam sites don’t tend to stick around very long – after scamming you off your hard-earned cash (which you give them as “processing fee” or to “rent” referrals) they tend to disappear, only to pop-up later under a different name.

InboxDollars is owned and operated by a company called, well, InboxDollars. The mother company also runs various other rewards sites, including SendEarnings, InboxPounds, and DailyRewards. This review will only cover InboxDollars, but it’s good to know that the InboxDollars network is thriving.

I also have a pretty good first impression of the InboxDollars website. It isn’t the most exciting-looking survey website out there, but who needs fancy graphics and over-edited stock photos? As long as the site doesn’t look like a relic of the 90s, I’m good.

The InboxDollars website is also easy to navigate and has a clean layout. And most importantly, there is complete info on how the site operates, and how you can earn through it. Scammy sites can be deceptive or make promises that are too good to be true. The content on InboxDollars looks legit and thorough. Overall, a very professionally-made website. Credit to the InboxDollars team for that.

InboxDollars: Earning Methods

Of course, money doesn’t just magically appear when you become an InboxDollars member! You have to do some online tasks for that. Don’t worry, these tasks are really simple (such as answering surveys), and many are actually quite fun! But most importantly, they’re really easy to do. It fits into my schedule quite nicely.

Here are the different earning methods on InboxDollars:

InboxDollars Answering Surveys

1. Answering Surveys

You could consider this their primary money-earning method. Out of all the money I’ve earned on InboxDollars, most of it was from answering surveys. These surveys are all a part of market research. Companies will want to know what the market wants before introducing new products or making risky business decisions. To help conduct market research, they hire companies like InboxDollars to conduct surveys to its members. Since this is a paid service, members of InboxDollars also get paid!

Earning Potential for Answering Surveys

Surveys take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. The shorter ones will earn you about $0.25, while the longer ones will earn you about $0.50. The really long ones (like 30 minutes and up) will pay even more. The earning potential here on InboxDollars is actually pretty good. Not as high as, say, GrabPoints, but still all right.

InboxDollars Play Games

2. Playing Games

No, I’m not talking about e-sports (although my kids would love it if they could earn from video games!). The games on InboxDollars are pretty simple and casual gamer-friendly. You basically play to earn and compete for points.

Earning Potential for Playing Games

It varies, based on your high scores, but it’s pretty comparable to the earnings you get by answering surveys.

InboxDollars Watching Videos

3. Watching Videos

InboxDollars also incentivizes us for watching so-called sponsored content. They’re like ads, but more entertaining. They cover a wide range of topics, from entertainment, lifestyle, sports, food, and technology. They’re grouped into relevant channels, and just like TV, you can switch between any of them.

Watching videos is a great way to earn because it’s passive. I can leave my tablet on and play videos one after the other while I’m busy doing the laundry. It doesn’t demand too much of my attention

Earning Potential for Watching Videos

Whenever you watch a video till the end, you earn $0.10. Make sure you finish the video to get your earnings. Plus, some videos will have a digital scratch card that lets you earn up to $10!

4. Availing of Location-Based Promotions

If you give InboxDollars access to your location, you can receive notifications about special bargains around your area. This was pretty tempting (since I’m always on the lookout for bargains) but I decided not to use this. I value my – and my family’s – privacy very much. I felt that giving our location wasn’t worth it.

Earning Potential for Location-Based Promos

You don’t exactly earn via this method because you get discounts and bargains, not outright earnings.

InboxDollars Cash-Back Offers

5. Getting Cash-Back Offers

Whenever you shop at one of their partner establishments, you get a certain percentage back as a bonus. I really like this because I can focus on shops that sell the stuff I need, then make some of my money back. It’s like a discount, but better!

Earning Potential for Cash-Back Offers

Your earnings will vary depending on the promo you take advantage of, but you’re looking at earning around $0.50 to $5 for each promo you take part in.

6. Reading Emails

This isn’t my favorite earning method, since it demands my full attention (which is hard when you have two rowdy kids competing for my attention!). Basically, you read spam emails. You confirm that you’ve read the mail, then you receive your points.

Emails are sent as part of InboxDollars’ “PaidEmails Program.” You can expect to get up to three emails per day, but it depends on your participation. Active InboxDollars users will get that many, while inactive ones will get less.

Earning Potential Reading Emails

Earnings here aren’t very high. You can expect to get paid the equivalent of $0.10 per email you open and read. Not my favorite, but you might like this earning method.

7. Referring Friends

If you enjoy using and earning on InboxDollars, why not spread the word? Fortunately, InboxDollars has one of the better referral programs among the different rewards sites I’ve tried. Via this referral program, you will also earn 10% of your referrals’ own earnings. You can also make $0.10 for every dollar they make under Qualified Earnings.

We tend to gravitate towards answering surveys, but don’t overlook their referral program. This is a great way to earn. Those earnings per referrals quickly add up. If you have a good network of friends, it would be a great opportunity to get them onboard InboxDollars.

How to Get Your Earnings on InboxDollars

Getting points is all well and fine, but at some point you’ll want to redeem them, right? This is how it’s done.

Once you’ve accumulated a minimum of $30 in your InboxDollars account, you can request a payout. You can withdraw your earnings as cash (which is sent through InboxDollars Tango eCard or Visa prepaid card) or cheque. Sadly, no PayPal, which is my preferred way to receive cash.

I am honestly not very fond of their payment processing methods. For starters, $30 is a lot of money to save up. Since you usually only earn cents for each task you complete, it’s going to be a long, uphill climb before you reach $30.

And then there’s the processing time. It takes InboxDollars 10 to 16 days to process your payout requests. I don’t know why it takes that long, but I don’t like having to wait over a week (and up to two weeks!) to get my earnings. This saddens me, because everything else about InboxDollars is so awesome.

I hate to compare them to GrabPoints, but on GrabPoints, minimum withdrawal is only $3, and they process payments within 48 hours!

InboxDollars How to Join

How to Join InboxDollars

If you’d like to give InboxDollars a try, simply head over to their site. The homepage has a built-in registration form. Just by registering, you will get a $5 bonus. That is awesome!

After registering, you will have to answer a few demographic questions. You need to do that so InboxDollars will know which are the appropriate surveys to send to you.

Is InboxDollars legit?

I can say, without a doubt, that it is! InboxDollars is legit! They earning methods are fun, and they fit my lifestyle perfectly. My only InboxDollars complaint is the restrictive payout methods. But overall, I still think InboxDollars is worth a try!
